Senior
Lecturer/Lecturer in Bio-Materials
The
Department of Mechanical Engineering is strengthening its research
through substantial investment in new world-class research facilities
and in new academic posts. The Department is currently developing a
strategic research initiative in Bio-Materials and Bio-Engineering, and
as part of this initiative it has made 7 new academic appointments in
these areas over the last 6 months, including one to a new chair in
Bio-Materials. The Department collaborates in the areas of Bio-Materials
and Bio-Engineering with several other UCL centres, including The
Medical School, The Institute of Neurology, The Institute of
Orthopaedics at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, The Eastman
Dental Institute, The Centre for Materials Research, The London Centre
for Nanotechnology (a £14 million centre set up by UCL jointly with
Imperial College), and The School of Pharmacy of the University of
London.
The
Department now seeks to appoint an additional academic member of staff
in the area of Bio-Materials at Senior Lecturer or Lecturer level. Areas
of expertise relevant to this post include: development and application
of advanced bio-materials or functional and structural materials to
biological and medical systems, devices, implants and prostheses, and
drug delivery systems.
The
annual salary for Senior Lecturers is within the range £39,888 to
£44,903 (under review incl. London Allowance) and for Lecturers within
the range £30,319 to £38,213 (under review incl. London Allowance).
