DescriptionPASTIS is the first Italian Science and Technology Park with a campus-like structure. The scientific and technological system of PASTIS is represented by CNRSM (National Centre for the Research and Development of Materials). The activities are focused on the research and development in the field of Materials Science with a particular attention to technologies for materials processing and treatment, materials characterization, microstructural, microanalytical and macroscopic analyses of surfaces and interfaces. SkillsThe Biomaterials Research group operating in PASTIS-CNRSM is composed of chemists, engineers, biologists and technicians dealing with biocompatible and bioactive coatings, synthesis of biodegradable membranes, chemical, mechanical and surface analyses of biomaterials, in vitro study of polymers biodegradability, study of materials cytotoxicity and cytocompatibility and in vitro bio-assay techniques, based on co-culture of materials with fibroblasts, epithelia and osteoblasts. The group has sol-gel equipment, chromatographs (HPLC, IC, GC, LALLS-GPC), atomic absorption/emission spectrophotometers (ETAAS/ICP-EOS), X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS), scanning electron microscope/Auger electron spectrometer (SAM/AES), confocal laser microscope, equipment for mechanical tests.
